Herstory

Diane Duck was the first person to receive a tiara from the formal Miss Deaf Georgia pageant in 1977 by the Director of Miss Deaf Georgia pageant, Pam (Young) Holmes who was Miss Deaf America in 1974.

However, Diane was relinquished from the crown. Cathy Morrison was the first runner up that had planned to take over the title and enter the Miss Deaf America pageant, but she was not prepared for it on such short notice.

Shirley Godwin was second runner up and Lou Allen McLillian was third runner up.
