of them to invite us to the House of Representatives. Meleah
and I felt so overwhelmed, and hardly believed that we

Miss Deaf Georgia Winner |
The Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant is proud to introduce to you our 2007 - 09 Miss Deaf Georgia, Meleah Miller of Canton, GA. Currently, Meleah is preparing for the Miss Deaf America Pageant to be held at the New Orleans Marriott in New Orleans, Louisana (LA) during the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Conference, July 7 - 11, 2008. Let's hope Meleah will return to Georgia as the title of Miss Deaf America, a first for our "peachy" state. |
Hosting a pageant and traveling expenses are costly. As a non-profit organization, we must constantly continue to raise funds to make these young Deaf/HH ladies' dream come true. |
|
As of now, we are asking for your support in assisting the Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant to send Meleah Miller to the Miss Deaf America Pageant in the summer of 2008. Any amount of support would be greatly appreciated! |
All contributors would be recognized in our biennial pageant program book. Our next Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant will be held at Crowne Plaza Atlanta-Ravina in Atlanta, GA on August 1st, 2009. |
What is the Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant? |
The Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant is a non-profit subsidiary of the Georgia Association of the Deaf, a non-profit corporation. The Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant is not just a beauty contest, which began in 1973. |
The purpose of this Pageant is a biennial event that offers the young Deaf/Hard of Hearing (HH) women between 17 - 27 years old the opportunity to develop an empowering poise, self-confidence and skills such as public speaking, performing, and leadership. |
The five (5) categories to be judged in the pageant competition are private interview, platform presentation, talent competition, evening gown and onstage interview. For a two-year term, the queen will serve as an ambassador of the Deaf/HH to the greater community. She will travel to give interview, presentation, storytelling, workshop, award presentation, autograph sessions, and/or perform her talent during her appearance at any events. |
Miss Deaf Georgia herself will get to spread her message of goodwill and be a role model to the Deaf/HH community. She will also compete in the national pageant for the title of Miss Deaf America. The mission and the goal of the Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant is to provide and encourage the young Deaf/HH ladies to bloom into beauty inside and lead the positive way. |
