Herstory

Andrea Owen won the title of Miss Deaf Georgia 1989-1991, there were 10 contestants at the Miss Deaf Georgia pageant. Her talent performance was doing the song called "Love in Any Language". Angie Osborne won the first runner up, Adonia Smith for second runner up and Rhonda McBerry for third runner up.

Andrea went to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete with 34 contestants at the Miss Deaf America Pageant on the summer of 1990.

       

Andrea commented about her experience at the Miss Deaf Georgia Pageant and Miss Deaf America Pageant:

"I was nervous and exciting at the same time. It was a great experience for me. I have learned a lot of different things, meeting other ladies from other states, learned many different deaf cultures."
